As of mid-July 2026, preliminary FBI data and national civil rights analyses confirm that hate-motivated incidents remain at historically elevated levels, even as general U.S. violent crime rates have declined. With over 10,000 hate crime incidents reported annually, aggravated bias assaults and targeted harassment continue to disproportionately impact racial, ethnic, religious, and LGBTQ+ communities. No one should ever be forced to live in fear simply because of their identity, ancestry, or faith.
